Students and visitors to the University of Paris will find accommodations within and near the university. There are a number of hotels for travellers on every budget. Student accomodation can be arranged through the student services department for each college but this ancient university complex doesn't offer the large user-friendly campus of modern universities and on-site residences were not planned during the founding more than five centuries ago. Many of the students rely on the commercial sector to find somewhere to stay and few can afford to stay anywhere near the college buildings. Fortunately an excellent transport systems means that the affordable suburbs outside of the inner seven Arrondissement are easily accessible.

Hotels and Accommodation

The Hotel Vendome-St Germain has a special agreement with the University of Paris. During certain times of the year, the hotel gives visitors a hefty 20 per cent discount. The hotel is also near the Pantheon, Rue Mouffetard, and "Ile de la Cité." It may be reached at +33 1 43 26 60 37 for more details.

Also just minutes away from the university is the Quality Hotel Paris Orleans, located on the left of the Seine River. It is conveniently close to the Metropolitan subway station and the Gare Montparnasse station.

These hotels and other options conveniently close to the university buildings are likely to be expensive or poor value and its wiser to stay in places that are close to the metro stops but further out of the central district.

Student Accommodation

Normally, students are required to find their own accommodation, as university residence halls are limited; however, the university can assist you in finding a suitable place to live. For more information, contact the CROUS website, which offers details on how to apply for student residence halls and assistance in finding lodgings.

Student residence halls are only open to students who have completed two years of higher education and who satisfy certain conditions. Details of your financial background must be disclosed in your application. Student residence placements are, valid for one year, at which point they must be renewed, and in some cases there are restrictions limiting your stay to a three year-period.

The CROUS also has listings of estate agents and owners wishing to rent rooms to students. Students can visit their office for assistance at: Service du Logement
39, avenue Georges Bernanos, 75005, Paris, France; or call them at: +33 1 40 51 55 55. Alternatively, you can email them at: dse@crous-paris.fr.

Residential hall options include men or women-only halls, halls reserved for couples, pensions, studios and traditional rooms. Admission requirements may vary from university to university, and applications must be made in advance of arrival. All halls of residence are located within the greater Paris area for convenient access to the universities.
